    Giving away my Ball Boy
Hi all... I am looking for a caring home for my Ball Python.:( He is a GREAT snake but it has become too much of a responsibility issue for my son (and me with the birth of my new daughter). My son has "lost" him 5 times in the house :colbert: when I've been busy tending to his new sister, sometimes we go days without finding him:O . Anyway, for the good of the snake I need to find him a home with a more responsible "daddy".:sigh2:

The snake will be one year :bday: in October, was CBB from a breader here in Columbus Ohio, he eats a live medium rat every other week with absolutly no problems except some times he strikes and misses :neener: and he sheds regularly around once per 5 weeks. He is extremely tame, I would have bitten my son if I were the snake, but he never has. He doesn't even hiss when my son gets him out, I'm unaware, while he is deep blue in the shed. I know not a good thing... and that is why I am trying to find him a good home. Let's see... he is a Normal perfect size and weight, that's what his breeder tells me when we go in to get his meals. But I don't have a scale to weigh him. He has been housed in a 20 gallon glass viv with a solid wood top and 40watt heat source. The solid top has made for perfect humidity just like his breeder said so he has never had a problem with shedding. He is housed on newspaper and has had two hides on either side of the viv. Anyway, the viv can go with him but there is a crack in the glass from my son accidentally dropping the top while getting him out. Again, why I'm finding him a more responsible home.

I will not mail him anywhere but would prefer him to be picked up here in Columbus Ohio. Please email me if you are interested... Include an email address if you would like me to send some pictures... it's too much work to post them here.

    Thanks for you time.

I know it's hard when I'm not going to ship but first, I don't know how to ship them and second I don't want to pay to ship him. I am giving him away so you can see why I am trying to avoid that cost. I just now took some pictures of him. The second picture I have placed a bic pen next to him so you can see his size.

Generally, the buyer will pay the shipping costs.

If you've never shipped before then it's probably a good idea just to do a local sale.

You can always post him up on your local Craigslist listing and do something like a $25 dollar adoption fee (they do not allow pet sales, only adoption fees)

    Here's yours:

It is free to list on Craigslist.

Thanks for the advise, I had thought about doing that but I want him to have a good home. At least by posting it here I know that the person is somewhat trustable since they take the time to blog about their ball python. I'll just wait for someone who is willing to come and get him. You can take the viv and all just may want to replace the 20 gallon tank since it has a crack in it.

yes i'm glad you posted here first. at least most people here are given good advice. If you are giving up your animal, you do have a say so in who it goes to. Get in contact with them and find out if they're a suitable reptile owner. Ask them questions about their set up and things like that. Refer them to this web site and tell them to ask questions if they're not certain about some things. If they do not sound like they can handle the job, just tell them no, or lie and tell them someone else came by and picked it up.
