Looks to be, but I sure hope not for her health's sake. Breeding hairless rats is extremely risky and dangerous to their health and wellbeing as well as their offspring. It is something that is very looked down upon in the Fancy Rat world. Hairless carriers that look normal are fine to breed as they usually don't have problems with pregnancy/birthing/lactation. Hairless females have ALL of these problems, and either the offspring, her or, in the worst case scenario, they both die. Not to mention, hairless rats are more prone to mammary tumors(one of my girls has had 2 taken out and now has a third, and another girl has one too), and other health maladies

Why didn't you just start out with normal haired rats instead? It would have at least been kinder to the rats, regardless of if they are meant as food for our snakes. It's the whole respect thing.

If they have problems, then of course I will feed them off. The lady I got her from has been breeding hairless for 5 years and never had problems with that line. I didn't get regular rats because of my bad allergies to rodents. They will be feeders sooner or later.

I dont know if she looks pregnant or not. My one male reached over 5 pounds...fat-a-rat he was. If I didnt know any better I would of thought he was pregnant lol. My big boys just loved to eat.
I did own 1 female and I was shocked that she did have some health problems, not only was she smaller...and I mean way smaller. Personally I like the beefy males better.

Hun, LOL, I think you may have had a possum or something. I don't even think rats are physically able to get 5lbs. The biggest, fattest rat I've ever seen was a female with the Zucker gene and she was around 1,000g or so, maybe a bit more.

I am not syaing that rats are hypoallergenic; but I have never had problems w/ my allergies from mine, and neither has my boyfriend (and he is allergy king.) Why not try breeding haired rats?
