    I have a dumb question...
My BP Kaa, is shedding for the first time since I brought him home. I usually feed him on Fridays, but am wondering if is ok to feed him while shedding. It would make sence to me to feed him, cause he's probably hungry. But he hasnt been out of his hide in about 2 days now(exept to poke his head out and look around). Usually by Thursday he is searching his tank for food.
I could use some advise, thanks!

I'm not an expert, but I do know that it's OK to feed a BP while they are shedding.

I believe that keeping to a schedule trumps a shed.

Just make sure that your temps are good (90-92) for the warm hide, and the humidity is up for the shed.

Some snakes will eat while they are in the shed process. Some will not. It won't hurt to offer him food, so long as you're prepared to deal with it if he refuses. (Such as if you find yourself stuck with a live rodent you must take care of.) It also won't hurt him a bit to just skip this feeding and wait 'til next week.

    Good luck with that shed!

I normaly wait a day as shedding takes some energy to succed. Each snake is differant though so you kinda gotta go by there actions. If he is just lying their he might be wore out,i would wait.If he is actively looking around give him a try this evening.Good luck

Most BP's want take a feed while they are in shed. Some will on the odd occasion. Try and see. If not just wait till hes done the feed and stick to your feeding schedule.

If it were me I'd wait and save the mouse or rat for later.

Wow,I just went through this yesterday. Glad to hear someone else is wondering too. Sorrry , missery loves company.

Anyways, I just waited him out until he was done shedding. It was over a week until it all ended. He was out last night finally after his shedding and hiding all week. I plan on stopping by after work and picking up his meal for tonight.

I've heard both sides of what to do. Some say skip the feeding some say go ahead and try. Sometimes I don't think there's a right way or wrong way to do things. Kinda like having kids. The first one you do by the books and the 2nd, 3rd, ..... you just wing it.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the advise. I think I am going to wait a couple days, then try and feed him.
