New Addition & First Corn Snake!
    Hi Folks,

I just got my first corn snake this past weekend at the MARS reptile show! I purchased this little guy off of SerpenCo. I must say Rich and his wife are GREAT to work with. They really have their act together when it comes to their corns.

Anyways, I bought a male "Fluorescent Orange" Corn Snake, born in July 2006.

Here's a few pics of the little guy:

I saw those and was so tempted to buy one. I was told that they have the most beautiful coloration as they mature with a nice white background. Maybe next year. I got three others instead. A caramel mot, hypo. mot and normal het everything under the sun.

I agree Rich and his wife are wonderful.

I found a website with a picture of the snake we both have! One being sold as "Fluorescent Orange" and one being sold as "Albino." Can someone help here? which is correct?

    ivylea77,

Funnie you say that! That was one of my criteria for selecting a corn snake, " ... bright oranges & reds with a super contrasting background ..."
Rich's wife told me that once this little guy matures out the orange & red will be intense and the white will be as bright as a piece of copier paper.

Your selections sound great, too. There's just so many morphs and best of all most are affordable. We have a Ball Python as well their temperment are super and I'd love to get a morph Pastel or Mojave, but I can't justify or afford laying several hundred to several thousand dollars down for one.

    Thanks!

    Kyle,

I'm VERY new at snake keeping, so don't take my word as granite, but what I've been told is you'll see the difference when they mature out. You're right, I had a juvie "Albino or Amel" and a juvie "Fluorescent Orange" side by side the day I bought mine. In the juvie stage there was VERY little difference between the two, but I was assured when they get to adult phase there will be a noticable difference.

This might help you understand a little more about the "Fluorescent Orange": http://www.serpenco.com/shop/custome...b43cd3fa983faf
The "Fluorescent Orange" is definately Amel based, but taken one step further in coloration. Amel's are still beautiful looking as well.

    Hope that helps?

After talking to Rich the flur. orange coloration is something he has been selectively breeding but yes it is an amel. Just with more intense coloration as it matures.

Yes that does help... my only issue is that I bought it from a pet store not a breeder. So there is a possibility that mine is not an albino. thanks for that link I saw the pictures of an adult fluorescent orange and that definitely should not be the look of an adult albino corn. thanks again for the help!
