    New Owner (update)
"Caress" had her first shed with me Friday night. It wasn't all in one peice, but it was a good one. (I was impressed with how beautiful and colorful she was afterwards! NOT the same snake I rescued!) I was wondering how long after a shed before it is ok to handle her? Given her history, I didn't want to agitate her, and I haven't found any information concerning if the shedding process is painful to the animal or not...? I want to get the feces and shed skin out of her enclosure. Also, I heard something about some kind of oil (conditioner?) that you buy to put on her after shed? (I didn't find any information about that either?)

Thanks to all of the kind people who responded to my first post...it was very helpful and i appreciated it...

I clean the enclosure out as soon as they are done doing there duties(shed&poo). As far as the oil its a waste of money it will make the skin sludgy on the next shed.I was told in my beggining to use that crap and then was corrected with the truth.I make sure the snake got all the shed off especially the face and tail areas.I dont think the shedding the skin is painfull at all but having retained tight old shed looks to be painfull.

Dan, Please no oil or conditioner of any kind. ok to handle right away. best feeding response is right after a shed. so feed her then wait a couple of days to handle. :)
