Cage size for an adult male?

I've been going through many books and looking over various caresheets, and am finding conflicting information.

What would a recomended cage size for an adult male BP be? What is the minimum it would be comfortable in, and likewise, what would be considered to large and make it nervous?

41 qt tub is good for all ball pythons.

General rule of thumb is 3/4 as long as the snake.... But to make it more simple, most male BP's can be kept in either a 20 gallon long, or 30 gallon (same floor space) their whole life.

If you're going to use plastic instead, then a 15qt tub can be used for the first 9-12 months, then a 32qt tub is perfect for a male for the rest of its life.

I keep my 5ft male in a 40 gallon breeder. And he seems to be most comfortable with that. And it makes him look ogood. And I have not had any problems with using tanks yet.:)

They have it summed up!!
make sure as (if it is ) a baby that your enclosure isnt to big. you dont want the little guy to get stressed out do you?If the enclosure is kind big for him you could ad alot of cover and many hides to the normal 2 you already have in there.

Tanks can be a PITA to clean and keep temps/humidity up.

That's why I switched to tubs. Either way will work thoguh....

I'm sure it was just an oversight, but a 20 long has the same floor space as a 29 breeder (30" x 12"). A 30 long is 36" x 12". But, you're right, any of the three are fine for an adult bp.

I have mine in a 30 long and it will stay there the rest of its' life. I have a piece of plywood with a sealant on the bottom part and holes drilled. I keep my temps at around 89-91 on hot side and around 80 on cool side. Humidity goes between 50-65%
