    A neat experience
You know, we get so much negative stuff every day, from the news and just regular interaction, I want to share something fun that happened today.

I had a neighbor drop by to give us back something he had borrowed. I had just gotten home with my 6 yr old son, and he had asked to hold his snake. So when we answered the door, he had his snake wrapped around his hand. Of course, anyone with a 6 yr old will know that at that age, if the doorbell rings, they are RIGHT THERE, eager to see who is visiting.

Well, my neighbor is apparently deathly afraid of all snakes, because he could not get away from my doorstep fast enough, I can tell you. He was practically running back to his house, lol.
So I went back to my routine, no big deal. A few minutes went by, and my doorbell rings again.
This time it is the neighbor's wife and 8 yr old daughter. "Oh, we heard there are snakes here, HAD to see them!!!"
So I take them into my snake room, and begin handing them babies, and informing them of life spans, possible lengths to be reached, you all know...just general information. It was really a lot of fun, and they were all smiles throughout.
My neighbor kept making comments like 'Wow, that's really not how I expected a snake to feel' and whatnot, she was very receptive! And her daughter was not afraid at all, she said my snakes were cute :D

So that was just a lot of fun for me. I really enjoyed showing off my babies to people who weren't used to snakes, and they enjoyed learning and touching! I hope I get to do that more often!

Yup. I too love being able to do that. I know I've taught a few of my friends about basic snake things. I've even gotten a few of them in to snakes.

Great story. Even though I only have my one BP, I have been able to educate some of my daughter's friends and their parents. They have the same reaction as your neighbor's wife.

NICE job - positive interactions & raising awareness that snakes are not icky/bad/evil/scary is a wonderful thing!!!

:lmao: That happens more and more frequently....I am constantly trying to place snakes with homes for adoptions, and I have many associates that are girls that love the snakes, and are totally interested, but have to end up passing, because "the boyfriend or hubby is really afraid of em', and won't let me keep it." :giggle:

I love being able to show people that snakes are not evil, slimy things out to kill them. My personal moment of glory was getting my grandmother to touch one of our BPs; that was a moment I will never forget!
I am glad my man enjoys the snakes too; never thought of how tough it'd be to have a honey who hates/fears them. But he was like me as a kid, always catching snakes, toads, etc.
