    New snake question
hi folks.. ok so ive had my little Imriel since August 27th. He has eaten once (about 6 days ago) and hasnt shed yet...
My question is this... when i pick him up he no longer balls up, but he sits really still and his neck is in that "s" shape that makes me think he is poised to strike at any second... is this just him still getting used to being handled?? He hasnt bitten me ( yet lol) and im not afraid of him but i dont want to stress him out too much while i get him used to being handled...

Actually since he's not balling up anymore that would tell me that he's becoming more comfortable with you. Just handle him consistently and not for too long at a time (and never for the 48 hours after he's eaten)

Just don't touch his head or neck at all for now, that scares them.

My bp sharky does that too. I just let him sit in my hand until he decides that his neck hurts and loses interest in striking at me :P

Long ago when my Bp was younger, he use to hate me touching his head, and neck.. and his cheeks. Im just facinated with my snakes faty cheeks, so squishy.. I slowly let him get comfortable with me and my sent and soon he realized my hands makes great massage tools and.. now he likes it when I massage his fat squishy cheeks. lol

Many of the BPs that we've gotten have been just like that and as long as you hold them consistently and are very catious they'll soon get used to you. My BP Tuleo was just like that when I first got him in second grade but now I can carry him around all day and he doesnt mind at all.
