    My new Blue Beauty
I got this little girl from the show in Houston. They called her a Chinese blue beauty, but most of the info I have found on the blues refer to them as Vietnamese? Are these all the same species of snake, just found in different locations? If you have any useful info on these ratsnakes, please share some in this thread, as I am not very familiar with the species.

Certainly looks like a baby blue to me! Blue Beauties native to the Vietnam-Thailand-Burma areas of Southeast Asia, from heavy forests to cultivated fields and mountainous areas. Elaphe taeniura get mixed up all the time, and for a while Blues were even thought to be an integrade between Taiwanese and Ridley's. They're all related subspecies called Stripe Tailed or Beauty Snakes. :) Hope that helps! I'm all bout the Blues, hehe! :P

Could have been misnamed by the seller or could be similar to the Guyana/Surinam debate...same snake species, just divided by a line on a map...

Cool little gal wait till you see how fast she grows if you feed her well. I am into Taiwans myself. I have a 1.1 pair of 05s and a new 1.0 06. The 06 is already three feet long and eating small adult mice! His yellow has not even started to come in yet and he is pounding adults! This is much faster growth then my 05s had. So I am hoping I have a potential 9 footer.

All the care sheets etc I have seen says that Taiwans get bigger then blues but in reality I have seen blues get bigger on average. A guy just had a pair for sale on Kingsnake.com last month the female was 10 feet and the male over 11, at least that was the claim.

Great animals just handle them a lot as they are growing up to keep em nice and friendly. Let unhandled for really long periods they can be nippy, at least thats what I hear all mine are sweethearts,
