I do not own one, but I believe they are not considered beginner lizards because they have a reputation for being a bit bitey/aggressive. Here's a link to our caresheet for them. I'm unsure on the average price. You may want to try google. :D

I hope that helped. I know we have a few members that own the little cuties. Hopefully they will add some more first hand knowledge. ;)

I tweaked the thread title so that those who own Tokays will know to click on it. ;)

If you start with good CBB Tokay juvies, it's pretty easy to make them friendly. We have a big colony of them & they're just a blast to keep!

Tokays are my fave of all the geckos, my female is now about 2 years old and i havnt been bitten or barked at once......yet.
the herp of the month is my tokay flea :)
care wise there great for beginners as there not all that difficult to care for , its just that 99% of em are biters and an adult male can give one hell of a nasty bite...they just dont let go  i heard a adult male can have upto 5lbs of jaw pressure not sure if thats true but it wouldnt surprise me one bit :)

tokay gackos are a pretty agressive little creature. i have one in my viv that bit me, and would not let go. so i dunked him under water figuring that when he needed to breathe, hed let go. well after 3 mins in the drink, he didnt let go so i took him out and had to wait it out till he let go. just goes to show ya how stubborn they are and how long they will hold until they feel safe to let go
