    Hmmmm
I got my new ball python Sharky wednesday, and I got him home and set him gently into his tank. He nosed around a little and went into his cool-side hide. He just ate wednesday, so I figured he wanted a couple days to digest (shouldnt he be on the warm side?..) and wasn't going to come out.

Well, he still hasnt come out. I dont know if he's just coming out when I sleep (I'm up pretty late), or if he hasnt come out at all.

I've gone into his tank a couple times to fill up his water bowl, move the decoration, mist a little bit when humidity drops, etc.

Today I lifted up the rock to check on him, and he was in a little defensive pose (understandable) so I put it back down. Just wanted to make sure he was still alive and disease free.

When do you think he'll come out?

Sounds pretty typical to me. So long as you're sure your temps are correct and you have identical hides on both sides of the tank, you can be confident in knowning your BP is doing exactly what it feels it needs to do in order to digest its meal and settle into its new home.

Even after months of owning her, my BP is seen out-and-about only infrequently...usually the day before she's due to be fed. She spends 95% of her time snoozing in one of her hides, and most of that time is either on the cool side, or in the hide that stradles the cool and warm zones. (She has three hides)

Yea pretty typical. Just give him time. Some like to explore and some only hide. Some do both. Congrats on the new member of the family

I'm so used to mine being in one of the hides, the first time I peeked into them and didn't see him in either I panicked and thought he was missing. He was just laying around out in the open. I've had him about a month and he sometimes spends a bit of time out in the evenings now. Always a pleasant surprise.
