Yeah, I know, I'm as surprised as you are.

I was thinking about the little $35 green iguana I saw at petco somebody's going to buy and assume it'll stay the same size... same as the cute baby RTBs and all the berms out there that end up in the wrong homes, and I had a nice little idea/fantasy.

Life sized adult replicas hanging from the cieling of Petco all Museum of Natural History style. So pet store workers can just point upward when people ask how big they get instead of shrugging or saying "Oh, not much bigger." They need these in the fish section too, after all the Oscar and Plecostomus horror stories I've heard. Big ol lifesized adults hanging from the cieling, maybe a life sized plastic Berm replica curled up in the corner of the reptile section.

Not only would this be informative, but it'd be a public draw. People'd come in to see the cool stuff, and leave with catfood. Win win. If they made enough of them, they could even sell some for people who want big impressive reptile stuff but aren't willing to take care of them.

"Here you go! Don't forget to dust em every so often!"

Anyway... just thought I'd share. Never happen, but it's fun to fantasize.

That is a good idea, now you just have to convince them to spend the money to do it. Although, if they did that it would cut down on their sales and they would lose money.

not if they sell more supplies, and a diverse selection of them. i think thats a good idea as well, they can be easy to make too, just foam and paint...

Sheree.....girl....when you put your thinkin' cap on, you really go to town! I think that's an amazing idea!

And it wouldn't necessarily cut down on sales at all. It just might be more people buying corn snakes and anoles, rather than burms and iggies.

It's a nice idea, but I really think it's up to the individual to do their research beforehand. My guess would be if they can't do their homework, then they probably think they can handle a lot more than they actually can. It seems sad that it's even necessary. Anyone looking to get a particular animal should at least see an adult, and handle it.

You should submit that idea to them, and see what kind of response you get. :sweeet:

I agree. Maybe even open up your own petstore or PetCo location.

Aughta just send them a link to this whole thread, lotsa cool ideas! :)

I think something like that would increase sales, really. I mean, if a pet store near me had cool stuff like that to look at I'd want to go there all the time to see them, and I can't leave a pet store without bunny supplies and cat toys and what not. And sure, you can't help all the people all the time - research is the best thing. But I think it'd sure make people think twice who just didn't know any better. Especially folks like me who are very visual, and just blink at you when you toss weights and measurements at them. Eek, numbers. :nerd: Well, almost like me... I research stuff into the ground.
