Hot spot on UTH

I recently noticed a hot spot on my UTH. I thought the temps were fine but, noticed that one spot read 98 degrees in his warm hide. It may have been like that for 5 days tops until I noticed it and fixed the problem. I've had my BP for two weeks and I notice he only seems to use his cool hide 82-84. I am using a thermostat on the hot end and was at the time I found the hot spot too. Do you think he refuses to use the hot hide because it was too hot for a little while? Do they remember things like this? I know he could be using it when I sleep or just don't notice it. I plan to feed him again on Thursday and am worried he may regurge if he doesn't use the hot hide (92-94) to digest. He already ate once for me and I saw him use the cool hide that time too but, I think I fed him a little too small of a prey item that time. I checked him over and didn't see any sign of belly burns or anything. Please advise. BTW, I use a tub and he does have two identical hides so, it can't be that. Humidity and temps. are fine now. What should I do? Anything?

I wouldent worry about the temps being 98 if that was as high as they went. If the temps were only 98 then there is no chance of burns, think about what your body temp is:) Hope this helps,

Thanks, I never thought of that (body temps.) I just freaked out. I use a Zoo-med UTH. I only have two snakes so, I will advance to flex-watt and a rack system later when I get more BP's. Can't wait. I'll keep you in mind for that....I was just browsing your site.

I figured it was a zoomed UTH, they are notorious for developing hotspots especially when they are stuck on and then peeled off.. Nothing wrong with using premade UTH's as most of them are made from the same company that makes flexwatt. Just let me know if I can help,
