thanks. she's the reason i'm addicted to bp.net now. can you explain "black back" a little? i know she is just a "normal" bp but i've been mostly focusing on husbandry and need to get into genetics and all that.

The only reason I know about this pattern is because I originally thought that my 3' male BP was a 'black back'. After sending pics to Adam Wysocki (he's around here some where, I'll let him know about this thread), I found it that he isn't because of 2 bands on him that break up the continuous black vertibral stripe. Adam said it it is rarely genetic, it just turns up. Some BPs have a brown/gold stripe on the spine instead of the black one.

She's very pretty - but I'm a little confused by the picture. Is that her permanent set-up? I see an AcuRite on the right of the picture, but it looks like it's on the outside of the tank between the glass and some cardboard - same with the probe.

And she has books in with her, but no hides? Or is that her feeding tank? The books still confuse the heck out of me though! :confuzd:

yes, that's her set up. good question though, but yeah, the picture does play tricks, the acurite and probe are both on the inside of the tank. the tank is also cleared of the hides and water dish before feeding. the books were in there because of past problems of prey managing to hide under the paper towel substrate. i added the cardboard because of obvious problem of 4 sides glass with feeling secure and such. i made the mistake of getting the glass set up because i didn't hear of bp.net before i got Aza. i'm switching her over to tubs with the heat tape soon when i bring her to my apartment (just moved to the city the other day). thanks for the compliments on her and the info above on "black backs"! :)
