HELP wiring two heaters to one dimmer
I know I used to have a link to show this, but I can't find it. I need to wire two UTH's to one dimmer control, but I'm not sure how to connect properly. I will eventually be getting a Herpstat for them I can plug into, but for now I was going to wire in a dimmer. Anyone have a link that shows, or know themselves, how to wire this properly? Appreciate the help. thanks
Re: HELP wiring two heaters to one dimmer
What do you mean by wire? Does the dimmer have an outlet on it?
Re: HELP wiring two heaters to one dimmer
Nope, no outlet. I was going to cut the wires from the heaters and splice right in. Just need to know which wire should go where.
Re: HELP wiring two heaters to one dimmer
Vaughn may know. I've been told he has quite the knowledge in electrical stuff. You may also be able to contact Matt at MGReptiles for assistance. But please do be careful. I'd hate to hear that a cheap temporary fix causes a lot of damage...
Re: HELP wiring two heaters to one dimmer
Thanks for the input, but I am going in a different direction with it now. I am going to wire the dimmer into a short extension cord, and plug the UTH's into that. Easier, safer, no harm to the heaters original wiring. Thanks
Re: HELP wiring two heaters to one dimmer
If it is a wall dimmer switch you are talking about splicing in then I did the same thing. The plug should have a big prong and a smaller prong. It is the wire connecting to the smaller prong.

You can also hardwire a powerstrip into the dimmer to give you more outputs:)
