New baby strawberry corn

At least he looks like a strawberry corn...

Anyways, I just got this little guy a couple days ago, and I'm wondering how often I should feed him? I dont know much about corns (I was going to buy a ball python, but it ended up biting/constricting me, so I got the corn instead :))

I just fed him a pinky, and he ate it no problem, and drank some water afterwards.

Right now he's in a twenty gallon long, with repti-bark, two hide spots (one on each end of the tank), two small water bowls (again, one on each side), and a fake plant in the middle. I've got a red 85 watt bulb clamped to one side of the cage. a thermometer, and humidity gage.

Any helpful facts/tips would be greatly appreciated :)

Start feeding on a weekly schedule and see how the snake does with that. Later on down the road you can move to twice a week. But for now I would stay at once a week.

Do you have any pics? I would love to see.

I dont have any pics at the moment. I heard they're sensitive to light (with the ruby eyes) and I dont want to use the flash in my room. I'm not allowed to take him out of my room at all, one of the rules of owning a snake in my parent's house.


I'm suprised they let me keep him after the whole ball python incident haha

I'll put up some pics friday, I'd be able to sneak him outside for a bit then. :)

Once a week is plenty. There's no reason to feed a snake twice a week. Some newly hatched babies might eat every five days, but even then, they'd do just as well on a once-per-week schedule.


Rhapsody...how old is the snake? Or how big is it, if you don't know the age?

not sure how old, but he is about as thick as a pencil, and maybe a foot long. the head is very tiny.

Very Pretty. I haven't seen the strawberries yet in person. Loved the opals too.

Thanks :D I can't seem to find a lot of pictures of the bubblegums/strawberries. I got penguin twenty dollars off at a local herp store because one of the ball pythons attacked me lol (didnt really mind, it's what snakes do, but hey! twenty bucks off! lol)

Cool snake! It's probably better to use an under tank heater, but as long as you've got 72-74 cool side, 82-84 warm side, and 40-50% humidity, then do what best suits you.
