Normal behavior for a BP?

So yeah..I went to Planet Reptiles today (in Norco) and I was checking out the ball pythons again, and me and the employee were sitting there with the pythons, and I look down and the one I'm holding opens it's mouth, and I think "Oh no....dont do it" and it clamps it's jaws down on my hand! It wrapped it's entire body around my forearm and hides its head.

The store guy tries to pry it off me, we're both trying to unwrap it from around my arm, and the fangs are completely sunken into my hand now. Five minutes goes by and the guy runs off to get peroxide. He said peroxide, when dabbed onto the snakes nose, immediately would make the snake let go. I wasn't so lucky.

The guy puts peroxide on it's nose, in it's mouth, and nothing happens. It's still biting down hard, and so we work to pry it's head off of my hand. We finally got the lower jaws off, but it's fangs were still digging into my hand. Blood is everywhere, customers are freaking out, and FINALLY, after ten whole minutes of having this thing on my hand, we got it off.

So much for BP's being docile, friendly snakes lol. I was just wondering is it really true about the peroxide?

Actually putting the Peroxide all over the snake, that was very unethical.

The only thing that did was clean your bite. LOL, sorry for laughing.

These pet store rocket scientists get their degrees from the shops they work for. They don't usually have any formal knowledge in the care of reptiles.

well he didnt dump it all over her lol. He put some on a cotton swab and dabbed her nose, and the inside of her mouth. :P

Had you handled or even been near any rodents or other small, furry critters?

I keep a little whisky in a spray bottle. You should see of fast my big boas let go

works on bp's also. Just a little spray in or around the mouth and they run for the hills.

No where near one. I wouldnt hold one right before getting near a snake...

I think it was just hungry, wouldn't it have let go if it was just nervous/agitated?

I felt bad for the employee, he thought I was gonna freak out or something lol.

I've never heard of using peroxide, but I have heard and seen people use rubbing alcohol and vodka.

Is that even safe?
