unusually active
Hayden's never been much of a wiggle worm. He sits still, hangs out about my neck occassionally playing in my hair, and doesn't move about his tank tons. For the past couple of days, though, he's been strangely hyper. He goes about his tank, pushing his nose up against the glass, like he's never seen it before. We watched a movie together last night, and he was all over me and the couch. Really weird for him.
Is he craving attention because of his new sibling? Is he in heat? [Hayden's actually a girl..] Is he just being a snake? Do I need to feed him more? Get him Ritalin?
Yes, I'm a bit bothered by his extra energy.

Re: unusually active
Are they housed together?

Re: unusually active
No, they're not housed together. They're in two different rooms.

Re: unusually active
Hmmm, how old is he? Is it close to feeding day?
I'm thinking "maybe" since it's approaching breeding season, he could be becoming sexually mature, OR maybe he's anticipating feeding day.
I have one girl that is nice an calm until Sunday - and then she's out and roaming her enclosure until feeding day on Tuesday. She's getting appropriately sized meals, so I may be off on attributing that to her preparing for Tuesday.

Re: unusually active
Some are just more active, outside the cage and in, than others. I have BPs that are kept at the same temps in smimlar cages; my male is a bundle of nerves when you take him out; my female Ginger will just sit on your lap and stare at TV (like my boyfriend, lol!)

Re: unusually active
All my dad knows is that he's an '05 hatchling. So, he's around a year. Seems a bit small for a year, though. 25.75 inches and 258 grams.
Hayden gets yum yums on Tuesdays. I'm thinking I should give him two mice. He strikes and eats the first one and pokes around for more for at least twenty minutes.
So, snakes get hyper when they hit snake puberty, then?
