    Breathing?!
    Hi,
OK, firstly I know snakes breathe like any other animal, but my Ball seems to breathe fairly heavily whenever I handle him. He settles down after a while but initially his breaths seem very rapid and deep (his body expands and contracts as he breathes quite significantly). This probably seems like a silly question but should his breathing be so apparent when I handle him? Is his breathing supposed to be so visable just by looking at him?
Any help is appreciated, again I'm sorry if this question is dumb (1st time ball owner!)
    cheers!

fight or flight.....You'd breathe harder and faster too if you didn't know if you were w/friend or foe....Once he's cued into who U are and if it's safe, his breathing will calm down.

Mine do it too if they're startled or stressed. As long as there aren't bubbles or wheezing (symptoms of a possible RI) then he should be fine. :D

    Welcome aboard! :welcome:

Thank you for the quick and reassuring response, didn't think it'd be anything to worry about but better safe than sorry, and better breathing than not!!
    Thanks again!!

funny I just logged on to search for the same issue:) I just went up to check on Bo Jangles and misted his cage as his humidity was a little low and then he came out of his hide and came up against the glass and was rubbing his face against it and was breathing hard (like in labor) then he would stop and be fine, then if I moved he would start breathing like that again and I was worried that I stressed him out because I misted his cage down, but it must have just been me sitting there watching him:)

Same thing happened to me. Funny this came up. Since it wasn't a constant thing and didn't hear any strange sounds, I decided it was best to keep an eye on it. Now, I feel better that it seems "normal" in a way.
