    Kali's Progress! WOOT
I feel I have to express my happiness. My new blood Kali finally came out of her hide tonight (changed her water today, without contact). I bought her sunday and the last time she was handled was wensday! I think finally she is attemping to explore her new environment. To me she left the hide because she is now hungary and in search of food. So hopefully by next wensday (1 week without handling) she will be ready to eat. Which raises a question I believe I have asked before. Im not sure of her age and she is about 8-10" long.

    Pinkies, Fuzzies or Hoppers?

8-10 inches? That is woah short, I would say extremely young. Feed an item as thick as the widest part of the snake.

That would be a hopper. It appears by the eye to be that long. It is probably more like 10-11".

i WOULD not give a snake that small a hopper unless it was a TINY one.

When they are born they are 12" to 16" in length. Could you please get out a tape measure and make sure she is not only 10" long. Did you weigh her yet? What is her weight too.

Other than that your doing great Kilo and I wish you luck again,

Yeha the 12-16 is what I figured, I just was not sure on bloods so I didnt want to say anything for sure. For a snake that SEEMS to be so small and young a prey item slightly large usually isnt a problem.

    where did you get Kali?

I got mine from Ben siegel at daytona...and he still hasnt wanted to eat. I have him on dry sphagnum moss, with a really nice tight rock hide.

Hopper. Pinks & fuzzies are typically too small to make good prey items for baby bloods.

    Mine ate last nite!

I thawed a hopper mouse and waved it infont of him. he wasnt interested, then he struck and missed, then he struck and grabbed it by its side so i left it for a few minutes, then i look back and he has the head down....im so happy...
