    lighting for RTB cage
so i just bought a RTB (my first snake) and i brought it home and set it all up and what not.
the people at the store recomended a 75 W bulb for the heating lamp, but when i checked the temp. it was well over 105 above on the surface of the hiding spot (which is right below the lamp) and about 100 inside the hiding spot.
so i went back and they gave me a 50 W bulb and its still in the 100's.

i also have a heating pad on the outside of the tank underneat the hiding spot.

what should i do? any suggestions? different bulb? no bulb? no heat pad?

    thanks.

I would lose the bulb and go with the UTH alone.

    Peace

I got a Lutron Credenza dimmer at Home Depot for $10-something and it handles up to 300w, and you can plug a power strip into it. :)
