Ever seen a snake play with its food?

Can someone explain to me why it is not wrapping and killing lol?
Re: Ever seen a snake play with its food?
That is definitely a case of "I can't believe I watched the whole thing!" Sheeeesh!
I don't think the snake was "playing" with the food...just didn't figure it had to kill it first in order to eat it...which it obviously didn't. Maybe it takes baby snakes time to figure out the easier ways to eat...just like almost all babies have to learn how to hunt and eat. :confuzd:
Re: Ever seen a snake play with its food?
I used the word playing to attract attention lol. Im not sure what it was doing... you are probably right. But isnt it instinct to know how to kill prey? And it didn't seem to be such a baby?

I dunno...maybe he "instinctively" knew that the pinky couldn't hurt him, and he could eat it without killing it first. But even with animals that live almost entirely on instinct, I would imagine life has a few learning curves. Life is just way too complicated to expect anything different.
As for it being a baby...sure looked like a baby to me...the wee little pinky looked HUGE in comparison to it!
Re: Ever seen a snake play with its food?
lmao, It says its a rat pup so its not a baby corn more than likely.
Re: Ever seen a snake play with its food?
Still looks like a baby to me...but not necessarily just-hatched. :confuzd: I'm just saying what it looks like to me...that's all.

Baby corn snakes are very easily confused if they have never eaten a live food item.I have 10 babies left from my second clutches and 2 eat frozen thawed mouse pinks(scared of live) and 8 do not care if its food they will eat it lol.My adult breeders eat live when i run out of frozen thawed and its weird when they just start munching down the rat pups still alive:eek: .I had a boa once that ate from the middle up:irkd: .Yes he ate from the mid section up and folded the face to the legs:confused: .He was large enough to eat it without any problems. He normally ate larges and this was a small/medium rat.It was still weird to watch though.

My LTR ate her first meal like that snake did, butt first and still alive.

I still think that video is funny to watch. To the same people who think there snakes love them will be the ones who think the snake is playing with its food.
