    do BP's hug?
Had my BP a few days now. Sometimes when i hold him, it almost feels like he's trying to hug my hand. He just kind of wiggles around then stops and relaxes. Is this normal? Or is he starting to shed? His color still looks bold, so I don't think thats it.

At times they also do this because you are warm and they like the feel of your body heat.

    Think moble heat source.

Remember too that we humans are giants to them and our arms are "moving tree branches". Both my bp and especially my boa "hold on" for dear life...my guess is they are afraid they'll fall or the giant human moving tree thing will drop them...

Being warm is good too. =)

It should be noted too that while snakes do seem to have a good grip on you, they can still fall, especially bp's which are known to be "a little clutzy". Make sure you've got a hand on them so that they can't fall and hurt themselves...=)

Excellent point Cass. Also do remember that the bigger females are pretty strong "huggers". We have some well over 4 feet that are not allowed near anyone's neck any longer most especially our children. I'm not saying they are horribly dangerous or anything like that but it's always wise to be careful with little people and big mature strong snakes.
