Re: Shedded Skin of Morphs
Hypos shed clear...I guess they are missing that particular layer of pigment in that particular layer of skin? Albinos *might* shed clear as well but I'm not certain on that...
My spider shed the other day....definitely has a faint "spider" pattern on it...pretty cool.
Mendel I'm guessing that you'd be able to see a very obvious pattern on the pattern morphs like spider, pieds, stripes, etc.

Thank you Sir Bradley....I just wanted to make sure my intuition was on track.
Any other input will be appreciated.
Re: Shedded Skin of Morphs
There's not really a visible difference with the pastel shed from normal shed, unless you own very dark normals.
Re: Shedded Skin of Morphs
Well I know that with hypo's aka ghost's one of the must have's is a clear shed with no pigment. I would assume that a shed from a pure white snake would not carry any dark pigment and that the sheds from an albino would carry only the light yellow/white pigment of that snake. Even with our normals we see sheds of varying color in the sheds.
Re: Shedded Skin of Morphs
Is it true that axanthic sheds are clear? Think I read this somewhere, but don't quote me on it.
Re: Shedded Skin of Morphs
You can definitely see the pattern on Pied sheds. I wish I would have saved Spirit's the other day .....

No. My Axanthic's sheds have pattern on them. Albino sheds clear though.
Re: Shedded Skin of Morphs
I also have different animals that shed in different thicknesses .... some shed "thin", others are normal .... my hyper mels and some of my ghosts are particularly thin shedders.

Re: Shedded Skin of Morphs
Adam, I'm glad you said that, as I have also noticed that my Hypos and Albino shed very "thin". I've always attributed it to there being a lack or reduction of melanin.
Mendel, my Axanthics and my Albino have pattern on their shed's. The only snakes that I have that shed clear are my Hypos.
