    breathing wierd
well for those of you who know, my bp was missing for 2 weeks and he just turned up last night. im so happy. but, ever since i found him, it seems like his breathing is different. he inhales and exhales in short breath's and a little faster than teh usual. could this be because he was out of his cage for so long and was exposed to dust and what not?

Congrats on finding him. If he has lived in less than optimal conditions for two weeks, I would strongly advice a vet(a competent one) visit. The breathing issue could be nothing, or it could be that he is getting an RI. Always be on the side of caution: take him to the vet.

Make sure to take him to a vet, though. I'm not too sure if you should feed him today.

i guess i will take him to a vet when i get paid. ( my job hasnt paid me in two weeks!) i read the last post a little too late. i had already fed him 2 hoppers. he handled them like it was nothing. one right after the other. he's back in his cage now just sippin on some water. ill keep yous posted on what the deal is. i think it might just be me THINKIN he is breathign different, considering im paranoid not knowing what he's been up too the past 2 weeks.

Do you hear anything (wheezing) or is merely that he is kinda expanding/contracting faster? The signs of an RI are wheezing, mouth discharge and gasping; it could be that you are just noticing now how they breathe sometimes when they are caught off-guard; my skittish male does this when you pick him up, his breathing gets fast like that.

Even if we had a vet as a member most would never diagnose online. They might give a bit of advice about home care till you get to the vet or some such but diagnosing illness requires a hands-on vet visit (or in some cases a fecal sample dropped off).
