I hate cats
Rescued this whip tail off the neighbors cat a few days ago, then noticed another one of his 10 cats had killed another whiptail today.... I hate cats that allowed to run loose!

Not much you can do about irrisponisble ownership and still maintain good relations with your neighbor!
Just one of the pitfalls of bringing pets like these into the country.

Re: I hate cats
There is nothing wrong with a cat killing a wild animal. It is called instinct. Cats are not purely indoor animals, some are, and others arent. Maybe 10 cats is excessive for your neighbor, but coming onto the forums and making a statement about hating cats because of their very nature is extremely narrowminded and ignorant.
Some animals are carnivores, and that involves killing other animals for food. Lizards may not be the primary food for cats, but neither are flies and I've seen some eat those before :).
If you bring more information to bear on the situation I may rescind my comment, but unless the cat is harming your property in some way, I don't see how your neighbor is being irresponsible. A cat walking across your property isn't hurting anything, but if it is peeing or pooping or killing your pets or harrassing your dog or something, I can see it becoming an issue.

Re: I hate cats
do like I do. I have dogs that come in my carport. I got a paintball gun the shots 13 rounds a second. You don't even have to hit them the paint splatters and they get painted. I had a guy come down yesterday and ask if I shot his dog with a paint ball gun. I was like well there was a free roaming dog in my carport that like to growl at me and I shot it with a pint ball gun. He was like thats my dog and I'd thank you not to do that again. I said not a problem. If I found it back in my carport I would close the door and call animal control and claim it bit me. That really ticked him off.. LOL

That's a good idea.... I'd like to do the same, but prefer to keep good relations with the neighbor. Even when the cats are in my yard, hunting animals and the usual things cats do in other people's yard. None of these cats are licensed in anyway. And I doubt he could afford the cost. At least he has found homes for 2 of them!

what if the cat is in brazil and its killing endangered species of primate?
i agree that a cat catching a whiptail every now and then isnt THAT bad but theres a place where you have to draw the line with domestic animals like that.;)

Re: I hate cats
Well, there is some good news... I'm trying to find a home for some of these cats. He has asked me... just a few moments ago if I knew of anyone looking for a cat because he has too many!
And no, I've never been a fan of cats killing native wildlife... Brazil or right here in my yard!

Well if the primate can't defend itself sufficiently, then I call that nature. If the cat was introduced into an ecosystem that couldn't handle it, that would be one thing, but there are bigger versions of cats in most of the US from what I understand.

Re: I hate cats
I'll proudly say that I have taken out plenty of feral cats with my high power pellet rifle when they mess with the dogs. Cats are ok but being left outside for hours at a time and running around the streets, I have no sympathy when I see one that got ran over. Any cat that can mess with my dogs, is fair game. I can sufficiently defend my dogs correct? Yes. If there was a dog out trying to attack or even bother my dogs when they are fenced in the yard, I would do the same thing. Shoot it. Chances are 1 shot and it won't be coming back around.
