leaving town with snake

Living in New Orleans, one thing I have to deal with every year is hurricane season, which almost guarantees I will be evacuating. Most of the time it is only for a day or two, but as last year proved, it could be as long as a month. If I do have to evacuate this year, what should I do to make sure it is as least stressful on my snake as possible?

i would make sure you have a "makeshift" enclosure like an underbed storage container and a spare piece of flexwatt that you can plug into one of those converters(??) that plug into cigarette lighters for electricity.

I would go out and get a tub from walmart or like store, get some extra heating supply, and really just make a new encloser just incase you two happen to have to pack and leave!

I would get a small secure tub, melt in your holes, put in it a pile of newspapers, two hides, a dish for water and an old pillowcase (instant snake bag). Buy some of those instant 10 hour hot packs and toss a few packets of them in there as well as an old sock to put them in when you use them (keeps the snake from direct contact with them). Put the whole thing in a big garbage bag, seal it and put it in your trunk ready to go. Add in a big jug of water for you and for the snake.

That way if you have to leave on a dead run all you have to do is grab the snake, open the garbage bag in your trunk, grab the pillowcase and tie it in that. Once you get to safety you have a clean instant setup that you can have the snake into and warmed up, with fresh water to drink in no time at all.

You can get a power inverter If your going to have to make a long trip to stay with familly they alow you to run things such as TVs, vcr's Hair dryers anything that needs 120 volt power, using your cars mechanical energy to create the power. and sice heat pads use only a few watts it shouldnt be very expensive, In fact you can Get small ones that plug in to your cigeret lighter.

as those above said the plastic tub would be a great thing to have set up and ready to go,along with some water
