Rescue Malaysian Box Turtle
Whoa, this is a great Box Turtle. She was kept in an enclosure as you would keep (or poorly keep) an Eastern Box Turtle. She had a very small water dish, and was unable to ever be submerged in the water. Malaysians are one of the few box turtles that are semi aquatic. You would actuially keep them in the same fashion a Red Eared Slider.
She has some bad shell damage but will heal up with some time.

I think she is, I swear when I put her into her enclosure after properly setting it up for her reqiurements, I think she swam in off of the land area and almost turned around to wink at me. She is a happy girl.

Hey Rusty, any idea how she got the shell damage?

Well her husbandry up untill this point was very bad. Store bought "gel" foods only and she was kept in a dry environment with a water bowl to drink from. They are a very semi aquatic species. Being dry for such a long time, no uv or heat lights for that matter, and very very poor diet are all factors.
Thanks

She looks pretty darn happy to me, like she moved from a cramped, dusty apartment to a deluxe condo with a pool!
Kudos for getting her set up with what she needs - I'd love to see more pictures of her as she improves. What a sweety! =)
