Buying cool morphs
At all of your typical pet stores you can only by what they call a "ball-python" what about all of the awsome morhphs? Where can i go to purchase a not so common morph of a ball python... to use for breeding?
And can someone PLEASE explain the word HET and how everyone is using it
ex.
I have a 100% HET bp, or i have a 50% HET alino i want to breed.
driving me insane! Can someone please explain its meaning and how its used in varbaige.

100% Het or heterogenous means that the animal is carring one half of the gene it takes to produce the morph. Then there is 50% and 66% that is the percent that they might be het. still with me. So here the odd's. 100% het + 100% het = say four eggs the offspring would turn out like this. 1 pied or 25 % and 2 hets and 1 normal. Now the 2 hets and the 1 normal. Thats where the 66% comes in. two of those snakes will have a 66% het chance. Then there's resesive, Dominate and co-dominate but that gets even worse to understand. for a good idea check out the www.geneticswizard.com.

Het stands for Heterozygous which basically means they carry the genes but its only visible in the Homozygous (Visible Morph) parents. Piebald, Albino, Axanthic, etc are all ressive morphs meaning that when the visible morph is bred to a normal all the offspring will be 100% Hets. Breeding a 100% het to a normal will result in the offspring being 50% hets but you cant tell which ones are hets because they all look normal. Co-Dom and Dominate are different from ressive morphs, breeding a co-dom or dom to a normal will result in visible morphs, but theres still that chance you dont get the morph. Pastel, Lesser, Mojave, Cinny etc are all examples of co-doms, co-dom meaning that breed 2 or the morphs and you could get the super or dominate form of the morph, ie Super Pastels, Leucistics, Super Cinny etc. Spiders, Pinstripes etc are dominate menaing that there is no Super form (yet). Heres the deal in very simple terms. If you have a het albino, for example, then it will have the gene for albino, that was passed down to it. If you breed a het, to another het, or to an ACTUAL albino, you get some albinos that hatch out.
66%
50%
33%
All those numbers mean is that the snake has a 66%,50%,33% chance of having an albino gene. These are cheaper, because you might get albinos, and you might not get albinos.
There are lots of online breeders that sell lots of morphs!

But people consider them possible hets;). My question was how would you actually get a 33% poss het. I was just listing the breeding and what you could possible get from the pairings. Unless im missing something I dont know if there is a 33% poss het lol?

Joepythons again dropping the knowledge bomb :P !! Yeah I have not ever heard of 33%, like Joe said earlier that is considered a normal. Aside from the Het vs. Het and co-dom stuff we all know some of the "Normal" Ball Pythons from Africa turned out to make some wicked morphs :O . You never know what is swimming around in the gene pool :D . I actually live near Vin Russo of Cutting Edge Herp. and have seen some of his "normal" females breed out some cool looking offspring. Here is a link for one of the newer unproven morphs. The pics do no justice in showing how orange these guys really are, note how he says the normal adults may carry a recessive gene for this morph:
