    My Birthday Crestie
Well since my birthday is next week and I dropped enough hints to stop a truck (plus a lot of hanging around the gecko table at the Taylor herp show) my wonderful hubby Mike bought me a crested gecko today! We got this little one from Matt at http://www.pangeareptile.com/id52.htm who was a very nice guy and had a lovely selection of geckos at the show. I was really impressed that every single crestie had a full tail.

So here's the little girl or guy (too young to tell yet apparently). At the show I saw him (I'm going with him for now lol) all fired up and he goes a really nice velvety chocolate brown with little black spots here and there (dalmation spots I think you lizard folk call them) and has creamy markings down his tail. Once we got him home and settled a bit he changed to this very light sandy sort of color though in the following pics he appears lighter even than in real life (I think I should have skipped the flash). Sorry the pics aren't great but we didn't want to stress him out too much and...

why didn't you lizard people tell me these buggers jump, hop and move that quick LMAO! Good lordy trying to take his picture was hilarious. Me and Mike, two grown adults and we are freaking over this little lizard running up Mike's arm and hopping about licking it's eyeballs and not staying still for a nice picture...too funny!

Well little as-yet-unnamed is tucked up in his little home right near my computer where I can enjoy his antics. I've seen him crawled around a bit on his vines and his tree stump thingy though he seems to be content to peer out at me, lick his eyeball and I suppose wonder what in the world's happened in his little crested gecko life now.

Now I have to think of a name! Any suggestions. I want something slightly goofy as personally I think this whole big eyes, big eyelashes and the eyeball licking is the funniest thing I've ever seen LOL.

By the way....OMG CAN THESE LITTLE BOOGERS JUMP! :O

His tail is nice and complete, just wrapped around me holding on tight in this pic.

Just to show his size. He isn't big but wasn't the smallest baby crestie there. I stupidly forgot to ask Matt how old the little fella is.

    Awww what a face!

I'll try to get better pics another day and hopefully some of him fired up. I'm amazed at the radical color difference...wow!

I am sooooo jealous. He is just adorable!
I say name him Everett, Pete, or Delmar. And then get two more for the leftover names.

Lol, congrats, Jo, and welcome to the club!

Yes, they can jump... little Fudge was king of the suicide jump. One minute he's calmly sitting on my arm. The next, he flings himself out into midair. I love 'em ;)

Amazing how they just jump and I guess hope they have somewhere to land. This little fellow was hopping madly back and forth hand to hand when I was deciding which one to buy...all fired up in his chocolate cuteness...so of course I had to pick him LOL. Amazing they just do these blind faith jumps LOL.

So far all he's done is climb a little bit around and peer at me from behind his tree. I haven't seen him eat or drink yet but I guess he's probably scared. I mixed up his gecko diet powder with water as per the instructions. Is it okay overnight or should I toss anything left in the morning? Does it go bad fast?

Nah, you can leave it in there for a couple of days. For some reason, they seem to prefer it when it's starting to get a little gross (they eat rotten fruit in the wild, so that's where it comes from). If it's got mold on it tomorrow, though, go ahead and toss it.

I feed mine Clark's Gargoyle and leave it in there for a couple days. I normally feed at night, and they don't start eating until the next day.

Yay for chocolatey goodness! I love the dark chocolate cresties. When I get the finances to get back into breeding them, I want to start a chocolate project... get some really dark, dark brown cresties and see what I come up with. Maybe that elusive black one ;)
