Python vs. Gator on Nightline...
Did anyone else watch this segment on Nightline about large pythons being let loose in Florida and thriving? It's common knowledge that it's happening but I found it really irritating that at the end, the narrator was encouraging people that have adult animals of large species to bring them back to the pet store, call the authorities to take it away, or "back away slowly"...how about encouraging people to think twice before impulse buying at the pet store and to do research about a species beforehand...
Grrrr.
Re: Python vs. Gator on Nightline...
i'm also irritated with the breeding population of green iguanas and nile monitors. there's also other feral species. tegus, water monitors, caiman, etc.
we're VERY lucky that reptiles arent already illegal because of the people (personally i think they're complete idiots because they give us responsible keepers a very bad rap) that buy reptiles on impulse and release them or cage them improperly. if all of the U.S. was tropical/subtropical like Florida they'd be feral reptiles all over the country.

I saw some of it... I wish it would come on again. It was pretty tight.
Seeing a python with an Aligator inside him..Amazing!
oh and just to let everyone know, I too was an impulse buyer...:rainon: but I do take best care of my snake :fest2: right now he's about to shed for the 2nd time since I've had him and I'm making sure everything it to his liking...I even get him the coldest ice cream:wuv: jk/jk
:lurk:

Mommie mommie!! I want the reticulated python he's so small and cute.
Three years later. Mommie mommie have you seen the dog?
People that buy large constrictors with out looking into it first have issues. I want a RTB so bad but at this point don't have a place to keep one so its no Boa for Ed. I think that pet stores need to make sure that people know what they are getting
