    Cool snake?
    Hi,
My ball always seems to be in the hide on the cool side of his tank. I have the temps perfect at 92C-93C on the warm and 83C-85C on the cool side but he ALWAYS seems to be on the cooler side, even after he's eaten a big meal. Do I need to be concerned or do I just have a cool snake? His hide is smaller and more secure on the cool side however, is it worth reducing the size of the other one to be more "cosy"?
    Cheers,
    Paul

If the temperatures that you stated are truly in Celcius, I would say that your e nclosure is entirely too hot. The temperatures that you stated above are ideal temps, if, and only if they are really Farenheit temps. Please confirm how you are measuring temps.

try using identical hides, as long as the enclosure temps are right the snake will be ok.

I have exactly the same thing with mine - my temps are exactly the same as yours and she has identical hides - still she always seems to prefer being in her cool hide. I almost feel like lifting her up and physically moving her - but I don't - I've done it with my boa but she tends not to hide anyway. I'm thinking of getting her (BP) a bigger viv so I can put a hide in the middle (no room at the moment because of the water bowl).

He may prefer the tighter hide. Try grabbing him an identical hide or new identical hides. It's also possible he's hanging out on the warm side at night or when you aren't watching him. Oh, our secretive pets :)

They do like really tight places you'd be surprised at where they can fit in to. Just have one get out and see what I mean.
