Canadian Snake Owners - What have you tried to do about laws?
I'm a Ball Python owner in Calgary, AB. I'm supposed to get a second snake from Corey Woods, but I have realised I don't know if I can because I may move back to Saskatchewan with my boyfriend, where Balls are still illegal!
What are my possibilities to talk to the government about changing snake laws or getting a permit that allows me to legally keep my snake? What have you done and what responses have you recieved when asking/trying to change reptile legislation?
Frankly I can understand why people are (and were) frightened of snakes, but a Ball Python released into the wild would be a threat to the environment for.. oh, around four months after which he'd probably freeze to death. I doubt an African snake can handle -40C!
So what have you done, and what has your Provincial government said to you in return?
I get the impression there are a few BP owners in Saksatchewan anyway, I was at a Petland and mentioned I was getting a BP and she was like "shhhh.... me too!" So what can we do to get these great snakes legal in my favourite province, so I can move back home? :D

Really? I was in the winter games and didn't hear anything about backgammon, but in Saskatchewan you never know, this is how they roll.

Speedskating actually! And I was the mascot. Never volunteer to be in the mascot costume.
