What Does It Take?

I've been thinking of getting a display reptile, and ive come across the tree boas(emerald) or and iguana. what does it take to care for a emerald tree boe? i heard they are regularly aggressive, is this correct? what is the cost of these? what size tank will i need? i just need as much info as you all can give me thanks alot everyone

Well I don't know exactly about emeralds...but i have a green tree boa and he is very aggresive. As long as you like some gloves...he won't bite you...to hard. but make sure that he can not get his teeth caught on them. he cost me around 750...bet he is also genetic for the calico yellow morph. to start with you don't need a very large tank...but you will when he gets bigger...like all othe snakes. the only problem i have is keeping the humidity correct. i recomend an automatic mister..and some serame wrap on about the top half of the tank...it seems to be working for now.

Emerald care is very easy...easier than you might think! Depending on the size of the animal, the setups can range from a 17qt. container with water as a substrate to a large acrylic enclosure with water as a substrate. They can live their entire lives over water so it is quite simple.


Most tupperware style containers are easy to put holes in so 'perches' can be put into place. From start to finish the enclosure may take 15 minutes if you have perch material.

Caring for them is also easy! 78 - 84 degrees on average and the water in the bottom creates it's own humidity...
