    Popping Boids?
My question is can you successfully use the popping method to sex boids? I did a search on this and the results left me unclear. I have heard before and read in search results that this method is not reliable for boids (not that it is 100per acurate for colubrids either), I also read here that popping juvenile boids shouldn't be a problem.

If anybody could clear this up for me that would be great. If you have used this method on your snakes how reliable or accurate have the results proven to be?

Popping is fine if you know what you are doing. You definately know when you have a male but sometimes it can be tricky with a "female". You don't know if you have a female or a male that you weren't able to get the hemipene's to pop out. Once you get experienced you know what a male and female look like even if the male hemipenes don't pop out. Although, it is definately better to double check when unsure. Probing for ball pythons is 100%.

Thanx Corey. I recently watched an awsome video by Kathy Love on sexing which I highly recommend. I have popped my corns and will give it a shot on the BP after it settles in but will definately have it probed as well for confirmation. I am still to timid to attempt probing on my own!

I learned on boids how to pop and it takes a bit of force to get them to pop. I've always been afraid to try and pop a baby corn/king as they are so small. I'm afraid I'm going to break them........ I'm used to babies that hatch out as round as your finger not as round as a shoe lace.

Popping on boids is possible although much more difficult than with corns because young corns are so 'sensitive' and males 'pop' quite easily. I have successfully popped young boas and ball pythons and after you've learned what to look for then it is quite reliable.

I know popping and probing should really be taught in person. But does anyone know/have a video of how to pop a boid or any snake for that matter?
