    My hard work pays off
Well i have to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. I now have a pretty efficient rat and mouse breeding colony. Both are doing great with great success. With that i decided to share some pictures with you all and I hope you enjoy them

Side note the ice colony was alittle rocky at first.. they like their privacy and show that by eating their babies when i would peek to much. So, now that I leave them alone they reward me by nursing instead of eating their young :pinkele:

well i hope you all like the pics. I can just go from bin to bin looking at them... all of it is still a work in progress...

This is my rat rack.. I added another level. Each bin has 3 females and I have the males on a cycle.

Here is my mouse rack.. the bin under neath is the birthing bin.. All prego moms .. the top blue bins have males in them and I place the females in them to get pregnant... you can see some moms in there now with their babies.

THis is a pic of some of my weaned baby rats.. Most of them are camera shy.. and I couldnt fit them all in..

Looks awsome! I could never do this, had alot of pet rodents growning up, its hard enough dropping a poor mouse in there to be killed....but theres NO way I could do it if I had a hand in breeding them an dall...I'd end up with a ton of pet mice!

Thanks guys.. this forum really helped me get where i am with it. Its hard to feed some of them because you do get attached.. but i get over that quickly when I am feeding 15 snakes... at 2-3 bucks a pop ..

I hope my snake breeding goes as well.. I hope to be so lucky

Looks good Sevo! I could never get mice to breed w/o a bunch of them eating their babies (maybe I peeked too much?) but my rats do just great. Glad it's going well for you now.

if that is cedar bedding, I'm just telling you that it is toxic to mice and rats, your best bet would be newspaper or aspen, just trying to help.

I'm sorry to say but yes it is, check out the site that I just put up. I've had rats and mice as pets since I was 8. They are most def. toxic, They cause bad respitory problems.

"The acids given off by pine and cedar shavings are very damaging to the respiratory tract. These acids can actually destroy cells that line the lungs and trachea (2). This has significant implications for rats since the most common diseases in pet rats are respiratory infections. Many owners of pet rats have reported the improvement of respiratory problems when they have switched their pets to a bedding other than pine or cedar shavings. " This is stated on that site and by many many rat breeders and mice breeders.
