    Why you DON'T want to use heat pads or electric blankets in place of a proper UTH................

    wow lol it is a good thing I dont have any in the house... Lady might eat it lol.
    At least the owner learnd from this ... i hope and that the snake is doing well.

    Disclaimer: I am not advocating the use of electric blankets/human heating pads for every day use but...

    The blanket was INSIDE the cage. What kind of idiot does that!? Human heating pads (if they are the old style w/o the auto shutoff) in conjunction with a good thermostat can be used in a pinch to keep temps optimal if your UTH stops working. I have at times used them full time but the risk outweighs the reward. They are most definitely a fire hazard when compressed by a tub or cage.

    my grandma used to have electric blakents and when Id sleep over in the winter as a kid shed give those blankets...they were itchty and smelt funny.

    thats why I DONT USE electric blankets. id never subject my snake to that kind of evil.
