Really worried...
I have posted my collection of crested geckos for sale and had a woman take an interest in my two females. We settled on a price, and I mailed Jane and No-name#2 out to her this past Monday.
Well, a couple days ago, I check out the BOI on Fauna and find this: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...ad.php?t=83395
Jeane Best is who I've been communicating with about my geckos, and Wendy was who I sent them to. Erik must have sent out his geckos around the same time I did. In any case, I didn't let it worry me too much: Jeane has sent me an email saying she had recieved the geckos, and that Jane seemed a little skinny. Jane was a bit skinnier than the ther female: she's always been lean and has been growing quickly lately. But she was eating fine and was as active as ever.
Well, today, I received an email from Jeane telling me that she had had her vet come over to check on my two geckos (mind you, this is the fourth day she's had them) and that the vet told her neither of these geckos had been fed properly. Here's the email:
The vet was here today to collect 2 geckos I recieved dead on arrival. I had her look at these 2 in quarintine. Now I dont want you to get upset with what she said. I just really need to know what was going on there in order to help them. But I am going to need to know what and when you where feeding and watering them. What, how often, how much in amounts, ect. Bugs? Baby food? Crested gecko diets? Vitamins? The best scedule you can give me. They are both at least 15 grams underweight, and Jane is ameciated (sp). I do not think she is going to make it through the night.
I got schooled in looking at certain things and unerstanding what they mean besides the tail bones that were so clear to me. Her head top is caved in meaning lack of nutrients (clacium exspecially). her eye sockets are sunken. Basically once she showed me he exam. Skin pinch, ect. She doesnt have 1 gram of fat on her.
Right now she is in there gasping. If I turn her over she makes no attempted to right herself. Once in a while she shakes her head violently. I am photo documenting it all. I called the vet. She thinks she will be dead within the hour and that there is nothing I can do :( The best she could tell me is either she is starved to death, or they have been consumed with a serious case of worms that ate everything she consumed and let her have nothing. She hasnt deficated for us to do a fecal float to test. She hasnt ate either. Now not eating for 24hrs isnt going to make or break her. This is more of a long term problem.
The other young lady is about 75% of the way to Janes condition. Again, where they not eating? Having diahrreah? Anything you can tell me that I can pass on to the vet that may help.
I replied, telling her their feeding schedule, and that they were both eating fine when I sent them out. I also told her that these two were NOT full-grown females, but still too young to breed, thus their smaller size. I was holding Jane the day I shipped her out and she was fine, crawling around. I had also cleaned their cages this past weekend, and there was poo in both cages on Monday when I sent them out.
I'm really worried, not for my sake, but for my geckos. I LOVED Jane to death. She was one of my favorite girls. I'm upset and peeved at myself for sending them into a bad situation.
I don't know what to do. I guess I just wanted to vent and share this with you guys. Any advice is helpful.

Re: Really worried...
Lynn,
I just spent over an hour reading that BOI thread. These are some big time scammers. They seem to have a history of not only receiving animals and reporting them as sick or dead and requesting refunds, but also stealing people's photos, reselling product as their own, etc. Best of luck with this but these women are utter trash.

Re: Really worried...
I've read the thread through and know she's a total scammer, but only heard about it AFTER I'd sent the geckos. In any case, Jeane just emailed me telling me that Jane is dead. I've requested she send me photo ID of the dead gecko... I don't know what else to do.
These are my sales terms as laid out on my webpage: I have a three day guarantee policy. If the animal is DOA or dies within the three days allotted times, you must send me clear photographic proof within 24 hours of it's death. I do NOT refund after the three days have expired.
She's still within the three day allotment... but she has to send me photo proof by tomorrow.

Re: Really worried...
lynn, you might want to send those pics to dr. scott stahl. i know he personally breeds rhacs, and is a leading vet in the nation. they don't look sickly thin to me, see what scott has to say?
www.seavs.com
ps. on the dead gecko, ask her vet to perform a necropsy, have your own vet go over it.

Re: Really worried...
i would have taken pictures of the gecko along with the what ever you ship them in (using a camera the prints dates on the picture)right before you send them .heck that'll stop them from saying you send them sick and 1/2 dead.
Its a terrible shame this women is trying to pull something over on you.
Her email to you sounds to perfect...like something she's mailed out before.
She's trying to take you for some fool...and we all know your not. Dont let this lady get the best of you.
Try your hardest to bust this lady! Examine your photos well so you can totally for sure identify your girl Jane!

Re: Really worried...
Lynn you should probably consider posting your experience with these women as well (with any supporting emails, shipping info, etc.) These kind of people make me sick. I'm so sorry someone took advantage of your decent, good nature in this way.
