Venus rat trap

Yesterday was VBB feeding day (Gomez is the only snake I don't feed on Sunday, so I can cuddle him when everyone else is digesting), Neptune being stubborn again and Ma-tsu still not laying eggs. :P

I was reaching in with the tongs to offer Ma-tsu her f/t medium rat. She was coiled in her hide with just her head poking out as she is fond of doing, and the rat slipped, falling right smack on top of her head out of the wooden tongs! Oops! "Sorry Ma-tsu!!" I went to pick it up off her head, but it was very securely stuck. I tugged it again only to realize that even though it had landed on top of her head, her mouth had snagged it instantly anyway by it's side! Wow, I didn't even see her move, that was impressive!

So I stopped tugging on that rat, went "Okay, hon, whatever makes you happy!" and watched Mr. Fuzzington get sucked into the hide sideways by the invisable force that is Ma-tsu. I wish I got pics of that part, but I was too mesmerized to think of the camera.

I swear, this girl is something else! :love:

It's funny every feed-day, I have the following thoughts:

I can't believe he/she at the mouse backwards/sideways/foot-first

and

I can't believe these animals survive in the wild, it takes an hour to find the mouse's head.

Go Mat-su!! Now if only she would lay those eggs!! :gj:

To be honest I'm growing doubtful for this season, and we planned to make a real effort next year anywho... but I keep hoping! Don't reabsorb them, Ma-tsu honey, give them to us! lol!

I'll keeping hoping anyway. ;) :D
