    eyecaps not coming off
i was on vacation last week while my bp Rex was shedding (this is the first shed as i havent had him long). i had somone vivisting every day and misting into the tank but when i got home the shed had come off in many small bits and some of it remained. the tail seems fine but the eyecaps do not appear to have come off. i have tried to soak him in hopes that he could get them off but it hasent worked...what should i do?

    thanks

My vet recommended a few drops of mineral oil on each eye.

I would just leave it, they will usually come off the next time he sheds. Nothing really to worry about, just make sure you get him a humid hide or get the humidity higher (hard to do in a glass enclosure) when the next shed rolls around. Good Luck.

exactly, listen to him...the exact same thing happened to my Ball and once the next shed came around...it was off...nothing to worry about at all...good luck.

Yes; just make sure you humidify your snake at the first sign of an oncoming shed. I put plastic wrap over my tanks' screen lids and spray it down, while using a good humidity-retaining substrate (cypress mulch.) I never have bad sheds; i can almost guarantee that this will work if you do it the way I do.

I think at about my BP's second shed, his eyecaps didn't come off. I put water on them and gently rubbed them and they came right off

Its really not tha big of a deal but:

If it really bothers you. Take some eye drop not medicated ot anything just like contact saluation. Drop some on the eye and let it soak in. Then with a wet q-tip rolling the Q-tip between your fingers GENTLY start on one of the sides of the eye and roll it across the eye. (Tip: if you are rolling the q-tip away from you them start at the front of the eye and move the Q-tip back.)
If it is working you should see the eye cap wrinkle and then start to roll off the eye. As it comes off keep the q-tip moist with the contact soluation and keep working at it. Don't get in a hurry and if it starts to come off but want finish. DO NOT pull. Put your friend back in his home and give him a humid hide. It'll come off in time.
