    Pouty lip...
My husband and I were goofing around with our daughter Zoe today, and we realized that whenever we make a sad face or use a sad tone in our voice, she gets a pouty lip and wells up with tears like she's about to cry. The minute we sound or look happy again, she quits and goes back to smiling/laughing. It was SO funny, we did it a couple time just to see if she'd have the same reaction. I had to share these pics, I just about died laughing she was so cute!

Awwww Jen, she's a sweetheart! I always loved watching my own babies immitating adult expressions when they were infants. How old is she?

Not sure, we're pretty much alone down here. My mother-in-law came to visit 2 weeks after she was born and my mom came down a month ago, but she wasn't doing this stuff yet. She really only has us to interact with. :)

Franky, she's 11 weeks old today. It's amazing how fast they grow!:O

The thing I find most interesting about the mimicry babies do is that in their first few months of life, babies can make every sound possible by humans...then listening to the adults around them, they begin a process of elimination of those sounds to only those sounds they hear repeatedly.

The enculturation and learning dynamic of young humans I find fascinating. =)

I love that too, we sit there and talk to her and say simple words to see what her reaction is. She babbles and coos a lot now, and she tries to imitate some words. If we say "Hiiiiiii", she'll try to say it. Not quite there yet, but in a month or two I think she'll have it. She's particularly fond of the "G" sound, everything starts with "Guh" and is followed by some other weird noise. lol!

It's really amazing how fast they learn things...just a few weeks ago she was quiet, didn't smile, didn't laugh, didn't coo, and was basically this little sleepy lump. Now she's bright eyed, grabbing things, watching TV, cooing and interacting, holding her bottle on occasion, standing up if she holds our thumbs...it's crazy.
