Busy today....
I went to the LFS to buy some supplies to finally get this thing set up. I've been slowly getting all of the equipment together. Looks nice in the living room...I stare at it more than at the TV:

Its a 37g, Aquaclear 70 filter, Ocean Sun light, and a moonlight for pm viewing. I like the hang-on filters MUCH better than the undergravel filters. You should have seen the crap that had accumulated under the filter plates of the 20 long I recently broke down. Disgusting, no wonder I had so many problems with that tank.
There's 1 blood parrot, 2 firemouth cichlid, 1 krib, and 1 african mutt cichlid. Lots of Chinese plants too. ;)
Anyways, enjoy!

Looks good dude! Go get a black knife..They rock and are good to offset those middle and bottom dwellers...

That's very pretty! I wish I had the patience and "touch" to care for fish...but I'd probably end up killing them almost as fast as I kill plants. LOL

Re: Busy today....
Awesome tank! I too prefer "HOB" filters; despise undergravels. I love the moonlites; my friend has some on her tank and they're so cool in the dark!
I'll hafta post pics of my setups; I really like your parrot cichlid. I am also impressed with your "overfiltration," something I do with all my tanks. More than one filter is the way to go.

Pelviachromis pulcher (Kribensis)! One of my favorites! Be prepared for a big messy blood parrot. ;)
Sweet looking tank, aquatics rock!
I just set up a freshwater planted tank recently, after not keeping freshwater for about 8 years, and doing the saltwater thing for the last two years I decided its time to take a stab at a nice fresh tank. I have a courting pair of colorful kribs in my tank...neat little fish.

Re: Busy today....
How beautiful!!!! I envy you the enjoyment and calming effects from your tank! :sigh2:
Makes me miss my freshwaters. :( Too many moves, into SMALLER than doghouse houses w/inadequate temp control. Didn't want to end up killing my fishies, so I'm keeping the equipment in storage until I have a "ME" house that the tanks will be permanent in. :)
Beautiful....just beautiful. Too bad U can't post nite pics.

Figured I post one of the parrot cichlid, he'll come beg for food every time you walk by the tank...impossible to get a clear shot of the firemouth or krib...way too spastic!
sweety314- the moonlight is awesome, definitely recommend one for any tank, fresh or salt!

Re: Busy today....
I'd also recommend the moonlights, I've got some over my reef tank and love the effect it gives off.

I missed this one and forgot to respond-
The Aquaclear 70 was bought for this tank, which is the bigger one on the right side of the tank in the pic above. On the left is a Whisper Power Filter, which I used in conjunction with the 20 long I had before. Something about using the old filter and old gravel in the new tank, my ammonia is already down to 0, still showing trace nitrites but not bad. I guess somewhere I saw it called "cloning" a tank when you use old gravel and old filters to get a new tank running.
