Never mind; it's a sudanese plated.
I had posted asking the diff. between skinks and tegus; I did a little lookin' and saw pics of Smulkin's Sudanese and it fits the bill! My friend has one at her pet store; I admit I am attached to the little guy. Mark would flip if I decided to bring him home. He is about a foot long nose tip to tail tip, and she is asking $50. for him on consignment.

He is really neat; I am not a "lizard person" because generally, I like herps that are more "friendly" and not the runny-aroundy type. But this guy was awesome when I handled him; just sat there like a chubby little pudge :)

I agree - very easy to care for and insanely mellow lizards!
We found one of ours at a pet store and the other at a small herp show in Pittsburgh - they are not very common unfortunately (those are the only two I've come across in person).

any one know what they normaly go for $$ wise? The one I had as a kid my dog found.

Hm.. she has it on consignment for $50.

Ours were $30 (pet store) and $15 (herp show) - but I have no baseline or other source of poricing to compare those with so I may well have gotten them far below the norm.
