    New Breeder Male Rat
Found this little male in a tank of feeders at a local pet store here in Toledo. I think he's an American Blue. A bit hard to photograph his color correctly but he's a lovely light bluish grey with no white markings at all. So what do you all think he is and I need some name suggestions. Our current breeder male is Casanova so I want to stay with the theme of great lovers LOL.

I'll have to look up the genetics for these blue colored rats to see what happens when I breed to other colors.

I have a blue female and no male!!! Petsmart sometimes has blues in stock, check if there is one near you. I've been searching around looking for a blue male rat and getting nowhere.

Wolfy, is she light blue like him (American Blue) or a darker steel blue (Russian Blue)? From the little I have read on blues you need two of the same type of blue to get one of that sort. An American x Russian blue will give you a solid black or at least that's my very basic understanding. Too bad your female and my male can't meet for some "quality time" (oh great now I'm pimping rats!!!)

I couldn't believe my eyes Emily. We walked into this not really great pet store just to grab some rat bedding because I ran out and my cages are not as nice as I like them to be and here was this gorgeous male in a big cage of regular feeders! Figured he'd be long gone but dang it he was still there when I went back for him so I quickly nabbed him up as a future breeder for us.

He's actually quite nice tempered and didn't mind the bath he got when we got home (their cages weren't that clean).

LOL Jamie Glass you slay me!

I thought of Romeo but it doesn't work for me and Mike swears if I name him Fabio he'll refuse to ever call him that LOL. Come on folks...famous lovers of lore and fiction...help...the lil fella needs his own name!

I vote for Jamie, but if that doesn't work for you how about Tristan. (from that movie Tristan and Isolde, which is very similiar to Romeo and Juliet) Anyway, that's all I've got for now.

What about Navarre from Lady Hawk? Granted, he was a monogomous sort....but was one hunky lover! :P
