Re: Shedding Problems - Help
Just a heads up for next time....tepid to warm water for the soaks....if the water feels really cool to the touch, its probably wayyy too cold for the bp to sit in.
Anyways, if the skin doesn't come off after a few soaks and gentle rubbing, just make sure the humidity in the enclosure is where is should be and it should come off next time, no big deal. The only real trouble spot for retained sheds are the eyecaps and the tail. I both of those spots are good, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Re: Shedding Problems - Help
Cool water is not the best. Remember they can not generate their own body heat.
I'd recommend soaking in tepid water, for an hour. You can throw an old washclosh int there too, but not necessary. I do and then use it to gently wipe off any extra shed. Do that once a day until the shed is gone. :gj:
Re: Shedding Problems - Help
Ok, i've put her in some luke warm water in a container about the size of a lunchbox and put her back in the warm side of her viv. She doesn't like it at all me thinks and is moving around alot, i'll keep an eye on her and tell you how it goes when i get her out ina hour or so. Thanks for the adive btw.
Re: Shedding Problems - Help
Its alright as she moves around...just make sure the container is filled with water such that it is about as deep as she is "tall", from her belly to to top of her back. Just the humidity in the sealed container alone should be enough to loosen up the skin, so its alright if shes not always right in the water.
Re: Shedding Problems - Help
Well she seemed to settle own after about 10mins, resigned to the fact she couldn't get out of the damn water i expect lol.
I got her out after an hour and the skin was peeling off really easy, it was i bit of work, i'd old the skin and she'd more around pulling if off.
But after about 10mins she started to get agitated so i decieded to leave her be for the night, shes just got a little bit left on the tip of her tail and on the top 1/4 of the body.
As i put her in the tank she started to rub her tail on the rock so i expect that'll be gone in the morning.
Iam :D not injury came to her or the handler lol.
Thanks again everyone for the advice you lot are great.
Thanks
Graham
