    Just recieved this ..
    http://www.everythingforpets.com/exo....item_id.7310/

Well I have just received the Extra Terra Faunarium. It is the flat, large one, listed in the link above. This will be for my new baby Royal when I get it.

I am quite dissapointed as the lid seems to be very flimsy, has two extra little lids on top, I think one is a feed hatch ? Not too sure what the other is. Im not sure if it will be strong enough? Do people secure these with anything, as im sure with a little force the lid will come off & I don’t want to lose my baby after waiting so long !!

What do you sugest ? Im not sure if to send this back & go to like Homebase to get a Contico container & drill some air holes in it...what do you think ?

Also, there is a spare sheet of vented plastic that came with it..have no idea what this does..any idea ?

I do appreciate any help given

    cheers

My first Bp was kept in one of those for about a month or two. Sure you can keep it in there if you want but its not the best ones. That tipe of cages dont keep the humidity in(my bp had shedding problems).

I think the best thing(and the cheapest) is a plastic tub, like sterlite or rubbermaid.

I hope you enjoy your first bp.

I don't have any experience with this specific product Lisa but I did notice even on their website they advertise this as temporary or quarantine housing so perhaps they don't even mean it to be permanent, secure long term housing for snakes. If you are not totally certain that this product will do the job (as snakes are very strong and escape artists) I'd consider sending it back and looking at other options.

    Lisa,
I would be more concerned with how you were going to provide heat. Looking at the description in the link it doesn't look like the cage would hold up very well to having a heat pad attached to the bottom.

    ahh !

I was reccomended this tub to use with a heat mat & a mat stat..

Maybe I will cut my losses, go & buy a sturdy Contico & keep this tub, Im sure it would come in usefull for a feeding container for my corns or, just to 'keep them in 1 place' while cleaning out their vivs ! sneaky arnt they !!??

    you live & learn !

I would keep it to put your snake in while cleaning the permanent cage, etc.
