Pregant Female?

I went to a pet shop today asked for a female. The guy at the pet shop told me she might be pregnant because you can see her nipples is that true? I never heard that before...so is that a sign of pregnacy or is he nuts?

so, ahem. just because you can see her nipples it doesn't mean that she is pregnant. if the nipples are enlarged and more prominent than usual (usual being not very noticeable) than she has probably had a litter in recent past but it doesn't necessary mean that she is currently pregnant. it can be pretty hard to tell if a female rat is pregnant until the last week or even the last few days of the pregnancy, at which time it become quite obvious as her sides bulge out so much it looks like she might explode. :)

thats exactly what i though, but thats what the guy at the pet shop told me. As soon as he said that i walked out since the guy obviously doesnt know what he is doing. I have plenty females at my house i use for breeding to feed my bp. Some which im still growing up because they are too young to breed already have visible nipples like the one he showed me and hasnt been introduced to a male so how can she be pregnat?...thats what i told him. Maybe he jsut wanted to sell me anything. First time and last time i go to that pet shop its not a very nice place anyways so many wrong things in therre.
