    Seasonally Arboreal?
I was randomly chatting with my mother today and a question came up due to the current weather in Virginia. I know that in Africa, at least from what I've seen on dozens of discovery channel shows, that there's usually one huge rainy season and then it's fairly dry. My question is this, and pardon my lack of sense if my question seems stupid, but do balls, because they're mainly ground-dwellers, become semi-arboreal during the rainy season to escape the huge floods?

Or does that not affect them at all?

    Anyhoo...fire at will. ^_^

From the field studies that I've read and from talking with people that have made the trip over to see p. regius in the wild first hand, there are definitely recorded instances of ball pythons being found in trees as well as having arboreal prey items among their stomach contents ... but, there does not seem to be a correlation between a "season" and the behavior ... almost all of the specimens found in trees or with tree mammals/birds in their stomachs were young males. No one knows for sure, but the general consensus is that they are evading older dominant males in the area as well as climbing the trees looking for food.

Thank you. I was just letting my thoughts float around in my little brain. -Hums.- Either way, the kids seem to enjoy going outside after it's rained. It's usually nice and humid.

Thanks again for a quick reply, Adam. My curiosity has been sated. ^_^

Oh I bet my guy would love it! It's been raining, storming, flash flooding here in Maryland for the last week.

Well, you're right above me, state-wise. ^_^ We're in for a few rainy days, and Ophelia's been pushing at her tank every time I come in the room. "Take me out, mommy! Take me out!"
