    Too good of an eater?
So, I tried to feed Samus my first BP after 1 week of acclimation. The Breeder fed her live so I was scared she might not take the Frozen fuzzie I had. Surprisingly, she took the F/T fuzzie in seconds, came straight out of the hide and just struck, constricted for 2 mins and ate like normal.

For the second feeding, same deal. She came out, struck, but for some reason didnt hold on to the fuzzie, it just dropped from my tongs when I realeased as she hit it. Her head bounced back to her own body and she clamped down on herself and began constricting.... herself. kinda dumb eh. So she wouldn't let go after a min or two.. I took her out and slowly unwrapped her from herself.. she had totally clamped on and finally let go. No apparent injuries though, she did not break the skin.. scales are a bit messy looking but thats it.

So, as she was sitting on my bed after this traumatic event, I was telling my friend who was watching that she was so stressed she probably wouldn't eat for a while. (remember she's only been here for a few weeks)
He said something like... "just try again you never know"
so I respond if she strikes it will probably only be defensive and she won't eat etc.

I offer again, while she is on my bed and she strikes after a few seconds of me dangling, she holds on and constricts feebly for 20 seconds before letting go and commencing to eat. Imagine my surprise. however, the fool began eating the mouse backwards, and not using her body to wedge it into her mouth.. she struggled for a min and the just flipped her head straight up into the air, mouse still inside and swallowed that way.. mouse backwards, facing straight up, just used gravity to swallow... really nutty looking.

I put her back in the tank and she seems fine.... i guess i won't have too many problems with her eating huh? :)

I've never in my life seen a snake eat in that position.. looking like a kid chugging a drink hahah

your feeding her on your bed?????? I'm no expert but I would either feed her in her own enclosure, or place her in another container that she feels comfortable in.

Just doesn't sound too smart, considering feeding can get messy (The last live rat I fed pooped everywhere during constriction. She is now on f/t). You don't want to stress her out so much that she regurgitates her meal.

just my 2 cents. I'm sure an expert will have an opinion.

Sounds like a nice experience. I would just let her be for a while longer and only hold when you need to. Sounds like you should have a nice started little guy there. Always fun to see them eat for the first time. Glad to hear he took f/t for you. Don't let stress take her over. Now all we need is pics.

i have a bp like that. she eats like crazy and is always hungry. she would eat every few days if she could. shes 1 year old now and close to 1000 grams. when i first took her home she would only swallow rats tail first, as she got older i guess she learned and now swallows head first. good luck with your bp!
