    eating less
    hi all,

dexter is about 10 months old. for about 3 feedings he went up to :mouse2: :mouse2: two mice... now that i'm attempting to feed him f/t rather than live he's gone down to :mouse2: one mouse... is this normal?

nothing else has changed about his husbandry except obviously it's warmer here now than it was in the winter... he looks great, gorgeous colours and nice fat and squishy (i'll attach a pic)...

i'm just wondering why he would increase and then decrease like that?

Hehe...AWEsome picture! Shows an excellent example of just how "squishy" they can be!

As for the mice...Sheree (Medusa Owl) related an entertaining story once about feeding multiple f/t prey to her bp. Turned out that by the time the first mouse was consumed, the second one waiting to be eaten had cooled off. When she took to re-warming the second item, Gomez ate it right away. Might be worth a shot.

But so long as he's eating at least one of something on a regular basis, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Hm.. maybe the live mice overexcited him and his feeding response lasted even after the first one was eaten? I know that with my female, Bella, she will re-assume the striking pose right after she eats her first small rat; after the second, she goes back into her hide. And that is feeding live.
